No matter how hard some people try, they cannot focus on the HIGHER REALM of SOURCE, and thus, their prayers and meditations are erratic and unsettled. There are times when everyone moves into prayer and meditation sessions with a modicum of anxiety due to something discomforting having occurred either personally, nationally, or globally. Creating an “inner sacred space” is something that has been done by ancient civilizations. The following is a way in which to move into your “inner sacred space” to commune with DIVINE ENERGY.
1.) Be comfortably seated either on the floor on a large cushion or in a straight-backed chair. Place your right hand (palm up) in your left hand (palm up to receive the right palm). Close your eyes. Take three slow deep breaths from beneath your navel. Remember to push out the abdomen and solar plexus on the inhalation and to pull them back on the exhalation. This is the “Yogic Breath” as has been taught previously.
2.) Envision a large park with beautiful green grass, sweet-smelling flowers, a lovely blue sky overhead, and birds chirping as they fly in the skies.
3.) Next, see yourself sitting on a comfortable park bench, and in front of you is a huge lovely clear blue sparkling lake on which float blue, pink, and white lotus petals. In the middle of this lake envision the life-size “Medicine Buddha” facing you. His skin is sapphire or lapis lazuli blue, and he has a round face and curly dark hair. A golden cloth is around his shoulders and also covering his torso. In his right hand he is holding a healing myrobalan plant (also called “haritaki” and “arula), and in his left hand he is holding a small jar of a healing potion comprised of sacred resins and oils. He is smiling at you. From his heart he sends out a bright golden light that envelops and surrounds you. Continue to breathe slowly and to relax as the soothing LIGHT bathes you in bliss.
4.) Just breathe and focus on your heart as LIGHT completely envelops you. Do not think of obligations in the outer world or of any problems. If images of such things do indeed arise, simply allow them to pass through your vision screen without analyzing them.
5.) Sit in your “inner sacred space” as long as you are guided to do so by your HIGHER SELF. When you are ready to come out of meditation, take a very deep slow breath, and place your hands in the prayer position (called “pranam” in Sanskrit), make a slight bow, and say “Thank You”. Remain seated for a few moments before getting up to continue with the day’s or evening’s activities. You may want to light fragrant incense and a candle beforehand to set spiritual ambiance.
Important Note: You do not have to be a so-called “Buddhist” to perform this ritual. It is universal. The word “Buddha” translates as “Enlightened”. The “Medicine Buddha” is not the once human Sri Gautama Buddha. The “Medicine Buddha” is an aspect of SOURCE.
In fact, Sri Gautama Buddha taught about the “Medicine Buddha” (who is known as “Sangye Menla” in Tibet). Sri Gautama Buddha was always a follower of the path of “Sanatana Dharma” (“Eternal Path”) which was Divinely revealed to ancient Rishis (Sages), and Sri Gautama Buddha was a Great Sage who taught humanity Divine principles and how to conduct various holy rituals.
The most popular mala used to recite the “Medicine Buddha” mantra is Boddhi Seed which is very calming, lowers blood pressure, is stabilizing and grounding, balances the chakras and the nervous system, is protection from disharmonious vibrations, uplifts the consciousness, and when placed next to one’s bedside at night, helps to achieve good sleep. Often after meditation, many people chant the “Medicine Buddha” mantra on a Boddhi Seed mala which is the following: “TEYATE AUM BEKANZE BEKANZE MAHA BEKANZE RADZA SAMUD GATE SOHA”. It translates into English as: “SALUTATIONS TO THE MEDICINE BUDDHA, THE GREAT MEDICINE BUDDHA, THE GREAT PHYSICIAN, PERFECTLY LIBERATED WHO IS AUSPICIOUS”.
Thus, when we call upon the “Medicine Buddha”, we are actually — as mentioned above — calling upon an aspect of SOURCE in the manner known as “saguna” (“in form”), and when we do not give SOURCE a material form, this is known as worshipping SOURCE in “nirguna” (“without form”). Sometimes human beings are more comfortable when an image of the DIVINE is in front of them — like being shielded, helped, and guided by a loving Mother or Father, and the LIGHT becomes the loving arms of that loving Parent.
In modern times, it is unfortunate that mankind has made so many changes to ancient DIVINE revelations, and there is much culture in “indoctrinated religions” and not much true sacred revelation. Mankind is often being taught that he or she “IS GOD” rather than a part of “GOD”, and thus a “light” of the “GREATER LIGHT”. Think about it. If everyone was “GOD”, why is there warfare, disease, racism, sexual perversions, poor leadership, economic chaos, vile tampering with Nature, genetically-engineered food, slaughtering of animals, and more horrors?
SOURCE (GOD) is not chaotic and confused — not a punishing force — not an enjoyer of bad situations. Mankind has free will and has brought problems upon itself. However, when the righteous call upon DIVINE INTERVENTION, the compassion of SOURCE arrives with swiftness.
Even modern day holy books contain some semblances of ancient DIVINE TRUTHS even though they are also mixed with cultural frameworks. Study is necessary to acquire the TRUTH. “Seek and ye shall find, knock and the door shall be opened, ask and it shall be given unto you” (HOLY BIBLE). “Whoever takes one step towards me, I come to them running”! (HOLY QU’RAN). “Whoever asks any good thing of me in my name, I will grant to the uttermost, omitting nothing”! (BOOK OF COMING FORTH BY DAY).
Try the ritual of going to your “inner sacred space” when you are in need of being more calm and focused as you meditate. Receive a healing at the same time. As Yeshua Ha Messiah taught: “Know ye not that ye are the temple of the Living God”? As Tehuti said: “God is LIFE and LIGHT”.
