What’s In Your Vitamins?

alternative medicine eraoflightdotcomIf we just eat a good diet, get regular exercise and “take care” of ourselves, shouldn’t that be enough? The answer, unfortunately, is a resounding “NO”. Mark Hyman, M.D., founder and medical director of Ultra Wellness Center in Lenox, Mass. and author of The Ultra Simple Diet, writes “If people eat wild, fresh, organic, local, non-genetically modified food grown in virgin mineral-rich soils that has not been transported across vast distances and stored for months before being eaten… and work and live outside, breathe only fresh unpolluted air, drink only pure, clean water, sleep nine hours a night, move their bodies every day and are free from chronic stressors and exposure to environmental toxins, then perhaps, they might not need supplements.” For the rest of us (which is really all of us, for who actually is able to live like that?), supplements are an absolute necessity.

The average potato has lost 100% of its vitamin A and 57% of its vitamin C and iron and 28% of its calcium. You’re simply not getting the same nutrients you would have eating the same diet 50 years ago. So supplements are a necessity

Some forms of vitamins are dangerous and can be hazardous to your health—specifically, synthetic forms of vitamins. Most people are not aware that many of the synthetic vitamins, including some of the highly advertised “name brands”, contain petroleum derived chemical solvents, such as ethyl cellulose, coal tar, hydrochloric acid, acetonitrole with ammonia, methanol, benzene, formaldehyde, cobalamins reacted with cyanide and acetone and are coated with methylene chloride, a carcinogenic material”. The list goes on and on.

A recent Finnish study published in the New England Journal of Medicine states, “Taking synthetic vitamins is worse than starvation! The synthetic vitamins will kill you quicker.”

For instance, let’s examine vitamin C— a good example of a fractionated (synthetic) vitamin. The majority of vitamin C supplements contain only ascorbic acid, or a compound called ascorbate, which is a less acidic form of ascorbic acid. However, ascorbic acid is NOT vitamin C.

Most vitamin D, Cholecalciferol, is sourced from irradiated lamb’s wool (lanolin)?

We should have “real” vitamins more readily available. I have done tons of research to find “real” food sourced vitamins and they are very difficult to find.

Which vitamins are synthetic? Surprisingly most are. Spot check your vitamins ingredient to these synthetic ingredients:

Does your Vitamin A state anything like this?:

Vitamin A Palmitate, Retinyl Acetate or Vitamin A, Acetate Methanol, Benzene & Petroleum Esters? Your consuming synthetics. That’s just Vitamin A, the partial list goes on…

Does your vitamins have Beta Carotene? Unless whole-food source listed, all are synthetic. Benzene (crude oil) extracted from Acetylene gas. They never state “the rest of the story”. They would have us believe Beta Carotene came from a carrot. And, we never questioned, or at least I know I haven’t until now.

How about Vitamin B1? Is the source Thiamine Mononitrate?

Thiamine Hydrochloride or Thiamin Chloride Coal Tar derivatives and Ammonia. Not too good, ya think?

Vitamin B2 – Riboflavin – Extracted from waste corn with 2N Acetic Acid and Methanol.

Vitamin B3 – Niacin or Niacinamide – Coal Tar derivatives, Ammonia, Formaldehyde

Pantothenic Acid (B-5) Calcium Pantothenate or Panthenol Propene with Formaldehyde.

Vitamin B6 – Pryidoxine Hydrochloride (HCL) Petroleum Ester & Hydrochloric Acid with Formaldehyde. Really? No wonder they hide it’s true source. Did you know? I have been in the dark too, until now.

Vitamin C Ascorbic Acid Fermented Corn, Hydrochloric Acid and Acetone (nail polish remover).

Vitamin D – Cholecalciferol – Irradiated sheep’s wool (lanolin). Not something I want or need to ingest. How about you? But yet we all have probably taken this form of synthetic Vitamin D at some point in our lives.

All Synthetic Ingredients

Many of our synthetic vitamins are made in China. Why is this a problem? Many products made in China—where regulation is spotty at best— the quality and safety of the vitamin compounds is highly questionable. In China, municipal water used in the manufacturing process is often contaminated with heavy metals, pesticides and other chemicals. Food ingredient production is particularly susceptible to environmental contamination as well.

What Vitamin can we trust and consume? I wished I could list several brands, but, I cannot. I have researched this for some time now and only found one safe, food based filled with real nutrition. I can tell you that these have improved my health and I knew they were doing good within hours of taking one, just one, and I knew the improvement was real. But, you decide for yourself.
