The Democrats are fixing to fill the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) – one of the most reviled government agencies – with more bureaucrats than the Pentagon, FBI, State Department, and Border Patrol combined.
If the so-called Inflation Reduction Act passes, the IRS would receive $80 billion, a 600% increase from 2021, where they received $12.6 billion.
It would also add an additional 87,000 employees — more than doubling the current IRS workforce.
“Those IRS agents are designed to come after you, they’re not designed to come after the billionaires and the big corporations. They’re designed to come after small businesses and working families across this country,” Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) warned on Sunday.

“The Democrats are making the IRS bigger than the Pentagon, plus the Department of State, plus the FBI, plus the Border Patrol combined. This is a massive power grab.”
The Pentagon employees about 27,000 people, the State Department employs over 77,000. The FBI has 35,000 employees, while the Border Patrol has just under 20,000 agents.
“I introduced an amendment to say, ‘don’t create 87,000 new IRS agents’ — every Democrat voted ‘no,’” Cruz said. “They are bound and determined to try to ram this bill through.”
According to several budget analyses, Cruz’s remarks appear to be accurate.
From the Washington Free Beacon:
The additional IRS funding is integral to the Democrats’ reconciliation package. A Congressional Budget Office analysis found the hiring of new IRS agents would result in more than $200 billion in additional revenue for the federal government over the next decade. More than half of that funding is specifically earmarked for “enforcement,” meaning tax audits and other responsibilities such as “digital asset monitoring.”
Additionally, the bulk of the new revenue from IRS audits would come from the middle class, not the wealthy upper class, as the Democrats have claimed.
“The majority of new revenue from IRS audits and scrutiny will come from those making less than $200,000 a year, according to a study from the nonpartisan Joint Committee on Taxation,” The Beacon reported. “The committee found that just 4 to 9 percent of money raised will come from those making more than $500,000, contrary to Democrats’ claims that new IRS agents are necessary to target millionaires and billionaires who hide income.”
But according to Democrat Sen. Ben Cardin (Md.), you have nothing to fear — if you have nothing to hide.
“If there’s no reason to be fearful, and if you paid your taxes and if you complied with our laws, you should want to make sure everyone else does that,” Cardin said on Fox News Sunday.
"Can you understand how 87,000 new IRS agents would scare the heck out of millions of Americans?"

If that wasn’t enough, the “Inflation Reduction Act” will actually exacerbate the soaring inflation America is currency suffering by adding hundreds of billions of dollars in new spending on energy, healthcare, and climate change initiatives, according to the Committee for a Responsible Budget.
It’s almost as if the Democrats want to see how badly they can lose in the upcoming midterm elections.

I agree with you. It’s time the rich pay there taxes.
Thanks, Tom.
By the way – Infowars made over $165 million in the past 3 years, according to public records. They’ve uncovered some amazing information over the years! But they sure got rich doing it and may not want to pay all the taxes.
Now Alex Jones is trying to declare bankruptcy rather than pay the Sandy Hook parents suing him for lying about the terrible massacre that killed their son and 24 other children and teachers. He finally admitted in court that indeed, the killing was real.
So any partisan preaching about “Democrats” is a tad hypocritical.
Alas, money corrupts – even warriors like Alex Jones.
All the best, A Light Sister
The single reason we are taxed is to keep us struggling and in the process distract from the ubiquitous malfeasance. Having only limited energy as a result, one cannot confront all the many ‘wrongs’ that should rightly be challenged.
The government simply prints money. It does not need your sweat labor. At all. Digital funds are typed in and distributed from the Fed while leaning on the taxpayer keeps the populace humbled and stressed. It’s a giant illusion we’re being forced to participate in.
Speaking of reviled – Ted Cruz is one of the most reviled Congressmen. Even Republicans don’t like him.
What’s really happening is that the IRS budget has been whittled down so much over the years that mainly lower and middle class people are audited now. The richest individuals and corporations can afford top legal experts to help them dodge paying their fair share of taxes. Thus hedge fund managers and retail giants like Amazon hardly pay anything, while the rest of us have to toe the line.
A vast, bipartisan majority of Americans support requiring the wealthy elite to contribute their fair share to maintaining our roads and bridges, teachers/police/firemen and other public servants, healthcare, Social Security, disaster relief, etc.
Fair’s fair.
