3 Subtle Signs That You Are Under Spiritual Attack

1. You’re Overcome With Shame

The idea of a spiritual attack may sound crazy, but it’s one we have to talk about anyway because we can’t resist what we don’t recognize.

You see, there is more life than we can see.

There are very powerful unseen adversaries who have been around for thousands of years. They understand every aspect of human nature, they know how to tempt humans, and even what triggers us. They know how to make us feel shame so we hide and turn away from our Creator.

There’s something to be said for being convicted of our wrongdoing. When the Spirit of God is active in our lives, we’ll be convicted when we do wrong. We will feel the pricking of the conscience when we fall short.

We’re created with a conscience, so we’ll be convicted when we miss the mark of our highest selves. This conviction is good because it keeps us aligned with God and helps us revert to the right path.

However, when the adversary attacks us, it’s always through deception. It is condemnation in the form of conviction.

It’s the adversary who shames us for things God has already forgiven. The adversary reminds us of our past mistakes, and how God couldn’t use someone like us. He brings to remembrance the things that bring us great shame.

Shame is one of the lowest vibrational energies.

Negative energies use shame to make us feel unworthy, unlovable, and unfit for purpose.

Shame makes you turn away from God.

When you’ve turned away from God and are living in the energy of shame, you’re easy to attack.

Now we are not talking about the shame of ongoing sin. We’re talking about shame from sins we’ve repented of and God has already forgiven.

When the adversary accuses and reminds you of the things you did in the past, you are overcome with shame. This shame is an attack on you.

Knowing the truth about God’s forgiveness is the antidote to this shame.

2. You Carry a Heaviness Upon You

Feeling weighed down or burdened by life can be another sign of a spiritual attack. The heaviness can manifest as physical fatigue, emotional exhaustion, or a general feeling of overwhelm.

This heaviness comes because somewhere down the line, you believed a lie.

The adversary will plant a lie in your head, and when you believe it, it becomes deception. Once you are deceived, you begin to think according to that lie.

As our thoughts become reality, we feel whatever we think and then act based on what we feel, and eventually, those actions become habits that weigh on us.

All of these lies — that we are unworthy or not good enough — become strongholds that hold you down and ultimately bring about the feeling of heaviness.

Carrying a heaviness upon you can be like carrying a heavy backpack filled with rocks and sand. The weight can be exhausting and make it difficult to move forward.

The solution to this heaviness often evades us because we do not recognize the source of the attack and we can’t resist what we do not recognize. It’s why many people try out different spiritual practices after another and still see no results. That’s because they have not addressed the root of the attack — the lie.

If we don’t deal with the lie, we can go for counseling and receive prayers, but when we come home, the heaviness returns.

The antidote to this heaviness is not to address the heaviness itself but to address the root of the lie itself. It is to refute the lie with the truth that you are worthy.

3. You’re Tormented In The Mind

You can’t be possessed by negative forces when God calls you, but they don’t need to possess you to lie to you. They don’t need to live inside of you to plant negative thoughts in your head that will torment you.

Angst, intrusive and defeating thoughts, perverse and dark thoughts that come to you are the verbal attacks of the adversary.

Your adversary sends you these thoughts to influence how you feel so you can act on your feelings. This is what leads people to harm themselves and others.

If you’re experiencing persistent negative thoughts, self-doubt, or a sense of being overwhelmed, it may be a sign that your mind is under spiritual attack.

The truth is that we couldn’t fight or resist these adversaries in our own power. They’re highly trained spiritual assassins who would destroy us if we tried to fight them on our own.

We can only stand before an adversary by the power of the Holy Spirit.

By walking with the Holy Spirit, you’ll quickly recover from the spiritual attacks as she helps you spot the attacks in their tracks. Then you can resist them, and when you resist the adversary, he flees from you.
