I have zero ability and zero desire to moderate, but I do want to say that it’s tough to know what to do.
Removing comments is offensive and bad in its own way. In my ideal utopian world, comments don’t get removed. Some people also really don’t like it when anything gets removed / blocked, even if they don’t actually agree with the comment that was removed. Some people are just hostile to anything resembling censorship and I get that. Also, humans (including myself) are biased and emotional beings, which means that once you start moderating “bad” content it’s hard to always be objective and fair, and not just fall into the trap of removing content that you personally disagree with.
On the other hand, I often don’t enjoy reading comment sections, including comment sections under my own articles, because like 0.01% of people on this site regularly engage in finger-pointing, Jew-blaming, condescension, personally attacking other people, etc, and that just drags me down. And that’s a shame, because like the other 99.99% of people on this site are lovely people, and they often have uplifting or interesting things to say and I enjoy reading their comments. Even if they (respectfully) disagree with me, I’ve learned a bunch of things from that too, such as “don’t make your articles excessively long.”
If this was my site, I’d be ideologically opposed to censoring / removing anything, however I would warn and then ban users if they personally attacked others (not just disagree with them but personally attack them). Personally attacking others adds nothing and in fact stifles discussion, because most people don’t want to engage in discussion if they may get personally attacked if they do.
At the end of the day, I am grateful that we have this amazing site that we can read for free. Thanks for that, Kejraj.

1) very long comments apparently get into a separate queue which Kejraj checks less often, so it helps to keep your comments not too long. How long? Well the comments in this thread weren’t too long I suspect, so that long is fine.
2) comments in general, and especially comments with urls, may get placed into a moderation queue. That might look like your comment just vanished, but in reality it may appear a day later. It is what it is — I imagine that this is useful to keep out literal commercial spam.
