Libra Full Moon; May 12th 2025

By Stefan | Source

On Monday May 12 at 18:55 Brussels time, we have a Full Moon in Libra. The title of this article might have given you a clue already.

Wait a minute, every other astrologer says the Full Moon is in Scorpio?! You must be wrong!

Quite the contrary. If you look at the sky on Monday May 12, you will see that the full moon is not in Scorpio but Libra.

Don’t take my word for it, download Stellarium (R) on your phone, point to the sky Monday, or check http://www.in-the-sky.org, and see for yourself.

Then tell your family, friends and co-workers that you found something new. First they will laugh at you, then violently oppose you and finally they’ll say they already knew it. That’s the way the world works…

This astrology system I use is called sidereal astrology which not only works with the correct position of the celestial bodies and the real-life size of the constellations, it also takes into account 13 signs.

13 signs?! Why? Because the Sun travels through 13 signs each year, not 12, 14 or 68. The additional sun sign is Ophiuchus, aka the Snake Bearer or Healer.

The Sun passes through Ophiuchus from approximately 7-18 December each year.

Need I add that if you were born between those dates you have Ophiuchus as your zodiac sign. Uh-oh, wrong tattoo? No worries, most people walk around tattooed with the wrong sun sign.

Back to the Full Moon in Libra which is all about balance, agreements, diplomacy and relationships.

Since the Full Moon is always the climax of the New Moon, we can expect a culmination of the Aries-energies from April 27th which was all about assertiveness, action and initiative.

The New Moon trined with both Pluto (in Capricorn) and Mars (in Cancer) which were (and still are) in opposition.

So with Mars and Pluto we’re trying to balance the mother and father archetype, feeling emotionally safe versus establishing a public image, nurturing our family versus building a career, and with the Moon in Libra and the Sun in Aries it’s our personal will versus agreeing with others, charging ahead versus diplomacy, my way or the highway versus compromise.

All of these themes reach a climax on the Full Moon where we finally find balance and agreements with others but mostly within ourselves.

With the Moon also in opposition to Uranus we might receive a flash of insight and see things from an altered and better perspective. Uranus is in Taurus, which deals with abundance, resources, worth and self-worth.

If there have been long standing issues in relationships (also with yourself!) that need resolution, this Full Moon provides an excellent opportunity.

With the past few months being all about karmic endings (North Node conjunct Saturn, being hopped over by Mercury and Venus, and a Partial Solar eclipse, all in Pisces), we are experiencing the end of a long story, that might even go back many lifetimes, closing the door on a big chapter of our lives.

After all 2025 is a 9 year numerologically so the focus of this year is on releasing, letting go, forgiveness, leading by example and wisdom.

On the world scene in the coming days we may see some resolution in conflicts like those in Ukraine or Palestina.

That is of course if the opportunity is seized because astrology doesn’t predict, it merely opens a window of opportunity.

What you do with it, is an individual choice.

Life is what you make it goes the song by Talk Talk, wonderful song by the way with a simple but heavenly guitar riff.

Let me end on that high note and wish us all a Full Moon of people agreeing and finding common ground, especially in themselves.

World peace won’t happen until everyone has inner peace, which is still a few millennia away, but let’s start with the man in the mirror. Ain’t that right Michael? Chamonnnnn!

Check in which house of your sidereal birth chart 11° of Libra falls to see how these Full Moon energies will play out for you personally.

The energies start building 3 days prior and end 3 days after the Full Moon.

Until next time as I moonwalk out of this article,

Stefan

I’m afraid the division in 12 Signs is deeply rooted in more than dogma or the view of constelations, it has branches in alchemy and algebra. The stars are only relatively fixed external references of an internal division of the elemental energy grid that tempers the planet through it’s different rotation forms.

To me, considering ‘Ophiucus’ as a 13th sign is as valid as considering the Earth is flat: a lovely idea to instigate debate and see where we’re triggered about it, but it does not come together with nearly as many inter-coherent, wholesome perspectives of the universe as the alternative.

I use both the sidereal and tropical systems. I find they complement each other – both work well. Each fills in gaps, gives a more complete picture. If we fail to understand a message within one system, the Universe will make it available in another…that’s how generous it is.

We live in a beautifully intricate, masterfully woven infinite reality. An “and/and” (as opposed “and/or”) universe! And astrology is being born anew daily, if you consider the constant discovery of new bodies/asteroids/Kuiper Belt objects, etc. Don’t try to grasp tightly; play with it, have fun! It’s beautiful.

Perhaps as we evolve (transfigure), so is our perception, interaction and conscious awareness of the labelled celestial objects or Beings of Light. For me, I definitely spent the majority of my life as the sign in Western Astrology that I was born in. 100%. And now, after so much inner attention and transformation, I feel truly as the preceding sign (with much less polarization and with the feeling of ascending back upwards.) Which I think is how the precession of the equinox is moving- towards the previous sign. It feels like moving up and around in a spiral- like we finished our descension and moving back home.

If it is the precessions of the equinoxes that are causing the signs or constellations to move, then wouldn’t that also be the case with or without Ophiuchus? When I recently learned of the differences between Sidereal (Vedic) and Western (Tropical?) astrologies, I tried to understand the differences. Mainly, I found one explanation was about Ophiuchus in December, and another concerned the precession of the equinoxes.

I think I read somewhere in this forum that the constellations are not the same things as are the “signs.” That confused me. I tried to wrap my head around that. If a sign is not the constellation, then where does the sign and its tendencies and magnetic impulses stem from?

Everything seems to be changing so fast in our outer world. Grasping onto anything feels like sand through our fingers. Predictions seem to come and go equally as fast and furious, placing all the tendencies out there, and the potentials change in a heart beat- and then the next… It just seems like such a reflection of the way things are now outwardly.

It feels like all the astrological predictions are all blending in together and swishing and moving in waves as fast as our collective is changing. As soon as you read one thing in Western, you read something else in Sidereal or Vedic and then it may or may not apply to you specifically because we are all on different courses and the timing of our transfiguration is all staggered. And the Chinese astrology and beliefs of those in Africa or the Pacific Islands, etc, is nothing like ours, (as far as I know), and they live on the same planet. And to top that off, all the past lives we have lived in other parts of the world, which are still part of our inner make-up, make up who we are also.

And, if we are all reaching to merge with our higher selves, on an energetic level as the light or starlight that we really are, aren’t we moving into new orbits and becoming parts of new horizons (constellations?) ourselves?

      It’s actually quite simple, really.

The Tropical Zodiac id an organic relationship between the Earth and the Sun. It’s a base 12 cycle which always start on the Vernal Equinoxe. Therefore it adapts to the Precession.

The Sidereal is fixed, its starting point is the 1° degree of the Constellation Aries (doesn’t make much sense if you ask me).

The author of this post doesn’t use the Sidereal but the Astronomical zodiac aka the Constellations, which makes no sense at all, there is no meaningful model of reference behind it.

Chinese Astrology is relatively similar to Western, as Chinese Alchemy traces back to the same roots. It is beautifully tied into Chinese Medicine and Philosophy, a trait that has been lost in the Occident alongside the compartimentalization of knowledge.

By guiding yourself through the numbers, it’s possible to recompose the analogous knowledge of most cultures around the globe into a single structure of ancestral origins.

It indeed changes appearance over time alongside the perceptions of humanity, but once it loses connection with the original purpose it can only further degenerate.

Chinese “Astrology” aka Bajii, is actually a calendar, as far as I know. A very intricate calendar with many aspects and correlations.

But I agree with the core of your message.

There are twelve animals ruling years, months, and times of day, divided in four elements; based in which a person’s name, personality and proclivities are often either decided or based on.
Their seven days of the week are named after and correspond to the five classical elements plus the Sun and the Moon. They were healing people with this knowledge long before we decided Pluto is no longer a planet.

I know that, but the point is it’s a calendar, it’s not about planets. (btw, for whoever reads me, the yearly sign has little signification about your personality, the daily sign and element – a lot more).

          2. the_complaint_department

As far as I understand, you can’t call something a “calendar” without at least three planets involved, and my point was precisely the syncretism.

          3. Raksha

I mean, of course it’s connected to planets, in a meaningful sense, but their “astrology” is not about “astres” but about a calendar based on symbols (including astres). Let’s say your birthday fall on a Yin Metal Horse day, it has no direct correlation with planets, but the symbolism indeed does. Can we agree ?

          4. Raksha

Also, a calendar only need one planet and a star, but indeed the chinese calendar is soli-lunar. But what is the starting point of it ? I don’t know. But X day is not about the position of any planet in the sky, it’s about a base 60 (or 120) cycle, symbolically connected with planets.

Btw, in 2025 we are entering the last small cycle of a big big cycle correlated with the fall of chinese dynasties.

          5. the_complaint_department

Well sure. I’m not trying to divert, my link to the original topic is in the abstraction of the words. Without the symbolism, Astrology is just Astronomy.

“We do not know exactly how Astrology works according to the standards of modern science” was a very succinct point of agreement.

Personally I believe we cannot LEARN or EXPLAIN how it works using the standards of modern science, because they also would require a ‘direct correlation with planets’ to validate it.

            There’s this guy in blue,
Sometimes we click, sometimes I’m not so sure.
He always wants the last damn word —
            It’s a chore.
            At times, he’s sharp,
            Often funny too,
            But sometimes, honestly,
            He just busts my balls.
            Deep down, we agree —
Sometimes he just doesn’t know it.

            One day, one poem.

If both of us could easily be quiet about this topic in this article on a Sunday there would be something seriously wrong.

    3. Raksha

Also, about your question “where does the sign and its tendencies and magnetic impulses stem from?”

I think John gave you a solid answer already. But there are many lenses through which we can look at things. Some are esoterics, some are more scientifics. We do not know exactly how Astrology works according to the standards of modern science (my bet is that it has nothing to do with gravity).

Maybe the position of the Earth in relation to the Sun, maybe it’s about electro-magnetism, or maybe it’s far more esoteric. But the thing is that the Tropical zodiac has many arguments in its favor.

Also, the question is : do you have some natal planets and/or transits in the preceding sign of your Sun (Tropical) ? I am sorry but astrology is not a just a random mirror, it’s a precise one.
