The Meaning of Suffering

Dear Era of Light Community,

I often see comments here reflecting deep despair over current events and suffering. Some question the existence of God, the Galactics, the power of prayer and love, or even life’s very meaning. These feelings are understandable—tragic events can feel unbearable.

Yet, I invite us to explore the deeper purpose behind suffering and the beliefs that shape our perspectives.

While logic alone cannot unravel life’s mysteries, it can illuminate hidden assumptions that form our worldview. Let’s begin at the core: Do you believe in a Source? If so, what is it to you? Is it Oneness—a benevolent, omnipotent, omniscient consciousness
from which all creation flows?

If you affirm this, reflect on these questions:

Why would a loving Source permit pain, suffering, or evil?

What stops the Source from crafting a flawless world?

Can free will exist without the possibility of suffering?

Would you embrace eternal bliss if it required surrendering free will?

Alternatively, could the Source be imperfect? Is there an opposing force or anomaly at play? Or must we strive harder to align with its grace?

The notion of a random anomaly feels illogical to me. If the Source is All That Is, how could anything exist outside its essence? Does this perspective resonate with you? How do you make sense of suffering? Could it be that some expressions of the Source ventured too far into separation, creating the illusion of evil? If so, does evil hold equal power, or is it a temporary distortion?

Now, picture yourself as an enlightened Galactic being, having traversed eons of joy, pain, and learning. You grasp life’s purpose and wish to ease suffering. Who would you seek to help—fearful souls, those trapped in victimhood and eager to worship you, or
those striving for truth and empowerment?

How would you guide them toward understanding suffering’s role in their journey?

I’m reminded of a quote, author unknown: “Evil is the daughter of freedom.” If you believe in a benevolent, all-powerful Source, suffering must serve a purpose within its design. If you see an anomaly or opposing force, how do you reconcile this with the Source’s
infinite nature?

Let’s explore these questions together. What does suffering mean to you? How do you navigate these mysteries? Share your insights—I’m eager to hear your thoughts.

I’m a bit surprised that the core of my message seems to have been largely overlooked. What I was really asking is: How do we reconcile suffering and evil with the idea of meaning?

Reading the comments on this site daily, I notice that many spiritual people seem to believe they’re trapped in a kind of soul prison — victims of nefarious higher beings, manipulated by galactics, abandoned on a “prison planet.” For many, Source appears at best indifferent, and at worst, malevolent.

As our friend A.S. has said more than once: “Higher perspectives do not invalidate lower ones.” Some forms of suffering on this plane are truly outrageous, and finding meaning in them is no easy task.

But if we discard the idea of soul choice — if we deny that suffering might, somehow, be chosen or purposeful — what alternatives are we left with?
    An evil god?
    A random, indifferent universe?

I’m surprised that you’re surprised: given the caliber of the existential dilemma your question poses, seems very brave of anyone to venture answering it.

it’s not all or nothing. free will means we all get to choose what we want to experience and that means sometimes what you want to experience – trapping people on a prison planet – is going to interfere with what we want to experience – being free, but that does not necessarily exclude soul choice nor purpose in everything that happens. Why would God be evil if we are exercising our own free will? it literally has nothing to do with God.

      Reply
        1. sea

no, as mentioned, free will excludes God. but perhaps the question becomes Is God evil for allowing free will? well, since God is everything and created everything, technically that includes evil so, yes… and then we come full circle in asking why. so we can come become who we really are by having all experiences both good and not so good of what we came to experience, suffering, karma, balance, wholeness, grace, love.

Unless you want to contribute to World peace, in this case, keep the red one. I have a male Russian friend who felt in love with a female Ukrainian woman, I hope they can prevent WWIII while fuxking each others (sorry for the profanity, I guess that 54% of the readers will be offended).

          3. Raksha

Ok it is official, the word Fuxk and its derivatives have been banned. Sad that such a natural and common word is banned, but hey, the populace has spoken (although throught a weird surprise-poll).

          4. Raksha

oh and another post from me was censored, I don’t know what word triggered it, I don’t feel like home anymore.

I’m afraid the F-word means something a little more rough than how it’s depicted outside the US… It’s definitely not something done out of love, and the verb originally applies only to the male end, not necessarily consensually. It’s very aggressive.

If you really mean it in some occasion, I will even fight for your right to use it – but still hope it never comes down to that.

Don’t take that survey the wrong way either: most people would indeed like to talk about sex in a casual manner but have very unpleasant associations with that specific word.

Long ago there were prophecies that this inglorious stage of humanity would come to an end. The question is whether suffering makes sense? I don’t want to look for an answer. It simply happened and that’s it, and many people want something new. A new reality in which suffering occurs in smaller quantities. And if we have the power of the creator, it will manifest.

All I know for certain is that as a result of my experience here, I don’t want to exist in any form any longer. If that means eradicating source to do so, so be it. What’s happening here is beyond sadistic and claiming it’s free will is woefully Nazi and devoid of responsibility.

Also, I think that the very word “duality” is misinterpreted, just like the word “ego”. Duality is anything below Full Fusion with Source. So, duality doesn’t imply misery in itself. 3rd Density is just extreme.

      I don’t agree, but okay.

To me both “ego” and “duality” are other terms for — Falsity.

The funny part, is that you are that part of Source, wishing to experiment as separate, and now calling it Falsity. Ego and duality are okay, they are the very purpose of Source. They are a challenge though.

Short answer: Suffering does–or has had–a meaning in the context of our journey into Duality (don’t ask me why we entered or got Trapped into duality)–

But it has gone WAY too far at this point. It makes you weep to see the suffering–including the everyday worries and stresses and losses–happening all around us on this planet.

We need to waken and that means end unnecessary suffering. Which is probably almost all of it.

I understand. When I see or hear about horrendous suffering, I am at a loss. “small suffering”, we can easily spiritualize it, but horrendous suffering…. my only understanding is that some Souls may choose it. I have no other explanation, and it doesn’t remove the salt.

Suffering alone is normal BUT Continues Suffering is DIFFERENT, Continues Torture is Different, out of line, doesn’t really help in evolution, disregards the being’s divinity & divine rights. This article is easy to understand but it came from non-physical point of view that doesn’t experience continues suffering so we don’t have connection there.

There is simply a war in the spiritual world and it has moved to the material level. And we are the victims of this war. Our bottoms bear the traces of this war.
Suffering is a certain trigger, an experience, but the amount of suffering that has accumulated on the surface has simply crushed us. And it does not cause our growth as a civilization. And in addition, the controllers are trying to maintain this state as long as possible. Perhaps the galaxies want to see if we will rise after the dismantling of control, but the suffering that crushed us has flattened us and we probably will not do it ourselves.

I believe in Infinite Source Intelligence. We are part of an Energy Field of Living Consciousness. Now we are a part of our Mother Earth but Imagine Being a Blob of Light bouncing around in the field. You can experience being liquid light flowing and become a wave moving through the field. You can join in Collective Consciousness as a larger part of the field sharing your thoughts. How about sending a fractal of ourselves into a compressed field so compressed that we can touch. A veil of forgetfulness is placed on us. We are never disconnected from Source but we think we are. We can experience others in form. We experience through our Emotions. The emotions are our teachers. It is a journey to remembering and returning to Source. We wish to experience specific lessons however our journey is sideswiped by darkness (absence of light). We become manipulated to serve others instead of self.
We are now remembering and returning to Source in a New Way never been done before. A great ending to a long journey with absence of light. Great Experiences have been perceived through the feelings of our emotions as we clear our emotional, physical, mental & spiritual bodies we return to the Crystalline make up of our existence as a Fractal of Source in new form with much knowledge of what was. Life is all about Experience! Namaste

Learning is infinite even at the highest possible levels there is still learning (even ALL THAT IS) is still learning.
There is no end to learning and because of this the human experiment (the explorer race) came into existence. There are at least 3 conundrums that GOD is using humanity to resolve so that the entire creation can move to the next level; this has never been learned in creation:
Using consciousness to harness or produce the ultimate amounts of energy (awakening), lift an entire physical world into a higher dimension (ascension), and perhaps the most difficult one (redemption of evil) thru the control release of suffering. The human experiment is full of purpose but the controllers of the experiments have definitely made mistakes, in their desire to make the experiment succeed faster they have release suffering in waves that humanity could hardly manage such as world war1, world war 2, countless famines, and many more crimes to humanity; even though humanity has survived it has made the spiritual controllers look selfish and self centered. Sometimes it is hard to believe that the highest levels of spiritual beings can approve this type of experiment but they did. Ironically after the experiment is complete, it will be humans who will teach the so call higher spiritual beings.

Why does everything need to be complicated, just be in your whatever is moment, your pain is caused by self harming and if that is what you choose then so it is, if you choose joy in every moment even when in pain the journey becomes easier and bearable, the only thing i ever learned in pain is how to avoid it and so it is. love to all.

To call Source ‘benevolent’ is by exclusion calling ‘malevolent’ something outside of it, which is ultimately not possible… I believe what we call ‘benevolence’ is by definition what we can re-cognize as an attribute of Source, whereas in what our perception fails to acknowledge any virtue we see chaos, darkness and evil.

Time is an ‘artificial’ construct where Existence plays out linearly from Chaos to Order ( – within which the concept of a ‘prime anomaly’ makes sense: remains of an original matter not yet attached to the puzzle). We are connected to ‘outside’ of it through our Souls, who define our notion of benevolence according to how much of the ‘full picture’ they can grasp, their individual growths.

Though individual soul growth varies greatly, conflicts between souls and suffering per se can only exist at early development stages, as the most basic and primitive form of attaining conscience. I don’t think it can be completely avoided, but am adept to the controversial faith that since Souls provide all the choices that come to us in life; our lower selves are not given even a split second of unnecessary pain. Obviously one can only speak for themselves in that regard, and I admit I don’t completely grasp the need for some pain in my own experience.

The ‘Galactics’ come in this scenario as ‘older’ siblings of Existence, we both love and hate them as we do our own Earth siblings: in many aspects they’re similar, but not identical to us, and that’s the point of being a family. I feel compassion towards some here whining to get their diapers changed and others boldly asking for the car keys, but try to keep my attitude to a simple “can you teach me to clean up after myself please?”

Other than the action of karma for positive or negative actions taken here on our dense planet, I feel that at this time, after many many thousands of years of slavery, depravity of elites, failed ascension scenarios, destroyed peaceful civilizations, ad nauseum, that evil is over-rated as a source of evolution. I feel that the “experiment” of allowing evil through the full expression of “Free Will” has run its course. Borrowing some of the language above, evil is only a “bastard” of freedom, a mockery of freedom. “Good” people generally turn away from evil, seeing it for what it is through the operation and function of Conscience. Thus their hands and feet are tied in the race we must run. Evil has no such compunction; it is unfettered by Conscience and left “free” to maim and harm. Those who choose evil put Good people at a deep disadvantage. Evil is unleashed upon us, and vampire-like, such beings feed off our misery. No, evil has outlived its usefulness here on our beleagured planet. Its continued existence is an abomination and affront to the whole of mankind. Rather than providing a useful pivot for those seeking to express their higher dimensions, evil hinders our freedom by denying the blooming and blossoming of our potentials, as most of us on earth are still burdened by the fear, poverty and misery being generated. Yes, evil is a choice. But the full expression of THAT choice is the denial of OUR freedom to choose. Ipso facto. So, I say to the Creator and the continuum of higher beings, that the experiment of “Free Will” or “Let Evil Be There” has run its course. Now, we must have a cleanup, through the imposition of Cosmic Law — so that the blossoming of humanity may truly take place. May it be so.

    Hi Raksha,

I don’t have any definitive answers, and I may change my opinion tomorrow, if some new insights come to light, but I have noticed a few things in my own experiences.

The first is that my deepest moments of suffering have been followed by my most elated moments of true connection with the divine. In a world of duality, we have to see both extremes to recognize them. We have chosen this experience, I believe, in part to help us truly appreciate our divinity.

Secondly, as I have come to know my higher aspects, I have come to feel that the soul doesn’t see positive or negative experience. It only sees experience, and experience is something the soul finds enriching. So, our suffering, while it seems horrible to us, only seems interesting and enriching to the soul.

Thirdly, if we are here to heal the divide between us and the divine, we must be able to traverse and understand both sides of duality.

Sending you much love and gratitude.

Pamela Kribbe, who is a channeler I like very much has said that the Soul can be in an enlightened state or in darkness. By Soul, she does not mean Spirit, the part of us that is already beyond duality and very conscious that it is one will the all. It makes sense to me, I believe that someone what has lived a very dark life will not necessarily become illuminated once he died. So the Soul grows.

Hi Raksha, thank you for your thought-provoking post. i have no idea what the seed of discontent was/is that caused us to want to feel separated from Source but perhaps earthly suffering is an opportunity to transcend our own fear, which is the seat of our suffering. what was the original fear? did we ask ‘why’ and this is the answer? Consciously now, i would never even think to ‘separate’ from Source but is that because i’m learning/experiencing what that feels like right now on earth? was that the point? and i would gladly give up free will which to me is just illusion because thinking is lower level consciousness and feeling is higher if we can put it in linear terms, so the expansion of consciousness which seems to be sought by Source should therefore be sought by us as well and we can’t expand our consciousness remaining in our comfort zone. but when does that stop if ever? more questions than answers…

I don’t think that Free will is just a matter of the thinking function. We choose with all that we are, including our emotions, our subconscious etc.

      Reply
      1. the_complaint_department

That’s another good point: ‘subconscious’ is not a different function; as both thoughts and emotions can be subconscious.

The idea that seems to divide acceptance in general is that free will has a subconscious component that (for the vast majority of earth humans) seems beyond our control and sometimes opposes our conscious will, and we call it ‘luck’ or ‘destiny’ (or ‘being tricked’, in this case).

If one is more attuned to feelings, thinking doesn’t seem essential for knowing things and vice-versa, and yet we become irresistibly attracted to our deficient/subconscious function (projected in others) until we painstakingly learn to work from both to create realities.

Or rather, know how and assume responsibility for the one we are experiencing.

I would say there are outside interferences. But a guest can knock at your door, and you are still free to open the door or not. I admit that some outside influencers may have means, technological or psychic, far beyond our means, but that as well, may be part of the grand scheme.

          2. the_complaint_department

At least in theory there is no ‘outside of Unity’; so influences do exist but whether we call them inside or outside depends on the range of our consciousness.

What gives this theory an edge over the others is that it harmonizes the concepts of free-will and destiny as two sides of the same coin, rendering victimization impossible.

      2. sea

to address your second point – no reply button – to me it’s like saying it’s ok to steal candy from a baby because it was the baby’s choice to let it happen. Earth does not appear to be a level playing field so saying that we are responsible for everything that happens in our life may not be entirely true.

The person who stole the candy is responsible for a different thing than the baby. Each soul chose a specific experience and attracted the corresponding situation to it’s own eyes.

The karmicons, karmic cons, humans and energy beings from the higher planets, and members of the Evil Karmic Organization, who controlled our old cosmos and our lives, created Evil for their perverted needs. They fabricated all gods, religions, and faiths.

The karmicons also created Evil karma Matrix and wrote all incarnational scripts for our incarnants – humans from the higher planets – and our lives.

With forced incarnations of our incarnants into our baby bodies, they programmed us to live by their perverted scripts. God does not exist, and Evil is not necessary.

The new Cosmic Administration has already abolished Karmic Organization and freed 20 million planets. Only Earth is still under the blockade of the higher energy beings called Clouds – they look like black clouds.
