Black, White, Grey, and Burgundy

A painting to remember the good time we, my German friend and I had in Surabaya.

We spent nights wandering on foot without destination, walking in and out small aisles where tiny houses lined up on one side, out onto the main street, stopped at every bars we came across. Him for the beers, ofcourse, and the joy of telling every bartenders not to offer me beer for I would take a week to finish a glass. And me...was for the live music and people-watching.

I usually got home after dawn. My poor grandma would sleep sitting on her chair in the living room awaiting my return. I have told her repeatedly not to wait for me, I'll be alright. Still, she waited for me.

The background of my painting was a side of grandma's living room wall.
