Yemeni Mothers Forced To Choose Which Of Their Children Starve To Death

the truth must be told eraoflightdotcomMothers are being forced to leave their children to starve as they face a “catastrophic” shortage of food in war-torn Yemen, a humanitarian group said on Thursday, reports Reuters.

As the warring parties pledged a ceasefire over a key entry port for supplies, Action Against Hunger said many civilians were struggling to survive in a conflict often described as the world’s worst humanitarian crisis.

“We are very much aware that the situation right now is catastrophic,” Valentina Ferrante, the group’s country director for Yemen, told the Thomson Reuters Foundation.

“If a family does not have the necessary economic resources to feed the entire family then they will select who to feed. Sometimes you get up to a point where a mother is literally forced not to feed certain members of the family, most probably the youngest one.”

Yemen, one of the poorest Arab countries, is locked in a war that pits Iran-aligned Houthi rebels against the government backed by Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, and the West.

The conflict and ensuing economic collapse have left nearly 16 million people, 53 percent of the population, in urgent need of food aid and famine was a danger if immediate action was not taken, the United Nations said this month.

The warring parties on Thursday agreed to cease fighting for the Houthi-held port city of Hodeidah, which is the main entry point for both commercial imports and aid supplies.

Ferrante said the biggest challenge in delivering humanitarian aid was not money but gaining safe access to conflict areas which were being hit by airstrikes.

“We need to pass the message that we are neutral, so we are not involved in politics, we just need to deliver high-quality humanitarian aid interventions,” she said.

Aid groups hailed the deal in Sweden as a “landmark first step” towards ending the conflict.

“The agreement from Sweden is incredibly encouraging to all of us who seek an end to the war and suffering in Yemen,” said Johan Mooij, Yemen country director for aid agency CARE.

He said 80 percent of Yemen’s commercial and humanitarian aid arrives through Hudaydah port.

“Only an end to the war can bring lasting relief to Yemeni people,” said Tamer Kirolos of charity Save the Children.

“Until then, the international community must continue to put pressure on all sides to urgently address the humanitarian crisis to avoid a full-blown famine.”

    Utterly horrific!

I would feed my children food, and eat dirt, grass, or tree bark, whatever, before I’d let any of them starve!

And I agree about the Vatican comment, and about people getting out of churches and volunteering their time and money to charities—as that is abSOULutely what Jesus would do! ❤️🦋🌀

What I find most strange about these stories is that the mothers ALWAYS look perfectly healthy!! How come the parents are fine but the children are starving???? It’s just so strange that they always show starving, naked children when most parents would do anything to keep their children safe and fed before themselves! Something looks very fishy about these stories.

I agree with Jupiter, this is a fake news setup and the same tactic they have used for eons as the dark ones own all these so called charity organizations and these photos are fund raisers to siphon money to the elite and do nothing for the people. That is why Trump is pulling us out of the WTO, the UN, USAid, etc and restructuring them to individual nations where we can oversee and implement programs that actually clean up the environment and help the people. This is the international sucking of the lifeblood of nations that has been going on for centuries through war, destabilization, migration, corrupt regimes and the suffering of people.

I don’t believe any of these images as we now know the lame stream media is all staged, fake news to play on our emotions and keep our perceptions of the world limited to low level creations. Like all that water and food we sent to Puerto Rico during the hurricane sat in a warehouse and rotted. The red cross has been used for organ harvesting and vampiric blood sacrifice. It’s all corrupt!

Let’s face it the Vatican could feed the entire world with the wealth it is sitting on!

On a positive note, just our awareness changes everything! If each of did hands on humanitarian projects in our own countries, we would thrive. There are so many homeless, drug addicted and living in poverty even here in the US. If people got out of their churches and places of worship every Sunday to do hands on charitable work in their own countries we could change the world through at a grass roots level.
