These days, life on our fragile planet seems to be under threat on numerous fronts, from climate change to pollution, to overpopulation, to nuclear war. Of course, there also remain various threats entirely out of humanity’s control, such as the possibility of a severe polar shift, a giant solar flare from the Sun, or an asteroid strike, to name a few doomsday scenarios.
People are just beginning to make feeble efforts to address the former threats created or made much worse by human activities, but what about the latter natural cosmic threats? If we follow the money, it appears that some privileged people have been making clear escape plans in recent years.
An article from Forbes follows the billionaires who have been buying up farmland in America and around the world. The locations, far away from the coasts, seem to indicate an intent to escape in the event of a rise in sea level, where survivors could provide resources for self-sustained survival.
“It appears that dry territories in the United States such as Montana, New Mexico, Wyoming and Texas are all very popular regions for the wealthiest individuals. Billionaires such as John Malone(currently the largest landowner in America, owns 2,200,000 acres including Wyoming and Colorado), Ted Turner (2,000,000 acres in Montana, Nebraska, New Mexico and North Dakota), Philip Anschultz(434,000 acres in Wyoming), Amazon’s Jeff Bezos(400,000 acres in Texas) and Stan Kroenke (225,162 acres in Montana) all have amassed major land. Upon further research, many billionaires are preparing for future escape plans with “vacation homes” in remote locations. Many of them also have their private planes ready to depart at a moment’s notice.”
Senior Forbes contributor, Jim Dobson asks:
“With all of this knowledge of future mapping, do the world’s financial leaders know something we don’t?”
It’s an interesting question, especially after you see how much is being invested.

Are certain rich insiders privy to inside information about humanity’s eventual fate? We can only speculate, but there have been many prophecies about what may lay ahead. Before we go any further, let’s be very clear; these are just prophecies and not based on known facts.
Forbes notes two modern-day prophets, futurist Gordon-Michael Scallion and psychic Edgar Cayce. Both predicted that a coming pole shift would lead to disasters. However, they had differing ideas on how that might occur.
“Scallion believed that a pole shift would stem from global warming, nuclear activity, and the misuse of technology. Another theorist and psychic Edgar Cayce predicted a 16 to 20-degree shift, while Scallion predicted a 20-45 degree shift. Cayce predicted that when both Mt. Etna volcano in Italy and Mt. Pelee in Martinique erupt together, there will be approximately 90 days to evacuate the west coast before the massive flood claims the coastline.”
Gordon-Michael Scallion developed future maps of the planet, showing the extreme changes to the continents as a Great Flood swept over the land. In North America, it appears that those who have property away from the coasts would be very wise indeed. See the maps below:
But who is Gordon-Michael Scallion? According to Encylopedia.com:
“Gordon-Michael Scallion, a contemporary prophet known for his predictions of vast changes, began his current career in 1979. As an electronic consultant, he had been meeting with a client when unexpectedly, he lost his voice. He checked into a hospital, and during his stay had an apparition of a woman who came into his room and hovered several feet above him. She began to tell him about his life, what was in store for the next month and then events that would occur over the next decades. Most importantly, she predicted major changes to the Earth that would begin at the end of the 1980s and increase annually through the 1990s. Immediately after the woman departed, Scallion’s voice returned. It also appeared that he had experienced a psychic awakening. He began to see auras around people and emerged as a healer.”
Gordon-Scallion released his maps in the 1990s, predicting that changes would take place in the relative near future. He remains active on such shows as Coast to Coast AM.
Edgar Cayce was an American psychic and clairvoyant and could be “the most documented psychic of the 20th century.” He was known as the sleeping prophet since he would answer questions as he fell into a trance-like state while a secretary took notes. Some say he tapped into the Akashic record, universal consciousness of all events from the past, present, and future.
Cayce’s predictions about the polar shift are documented on Edgar Cayce.org:
“There will be shifting then of the poles – so that where there has been those of a frigid or the semi-tropical will become the more tropical, and moss and fern will grow…”
The idea that frigid areas of the planet will be warm again coincides with Gordon-Michael Scallion’s predictions about Antarctica:
“Antarctica will become fertile, soil rich and farming territory. New land will be created from the Antarctic Peninsula to Tierra del Fuego, and east towards South Georgia Island.”
This idea of an ice-free Antarctica is not a new one, as a map from the 1500s, shows Antarctica as free of ice. The map, composed by Turkish Admiral Piri Reis during that time, shows the continent in great detail with features that should not have existed. After all, Antarctica wasn’t discovered until 1818. The maps remain an incredible mystery.
Meanwhile, Russia would be spared as compared to many places according to Gordon-Scallion’s maps. This idea seems to coincide with another psychic, the blind ‘Nostradamus from the Balkans’ named Baba Vanga. She predicted that Russia would rise to global dominance and its leader – currently Vladimir Putin – would be “lord of the world.”

Now, of course, it isn’t just self-appointed prophets and psychics who suggest that humans should be prepared for potential disasters like a coming polar shift.
A report from Science Alert notes that Earth’s magnetic north has been shifting at a relatively fast pace of 30 miles a year.
“It’s a minor change for most of us – noticeable only to people who are attempting to navigate very precisely very close to the Arctic. But the north magnetic pole’s inexorable drift suggests that something strange – and potentially powerful – is taking place deep within Earth.”
Although scientists aren’t sure what is happening, some speculate that a pole reversal could be in the process of happening, but it could take as much as 1,000 years to reverse fully. Nobody knows for certain.
On the other hand, if a pole reversal isn’t a real threat, theoretical physicist and popularizer of science, Dr. Michio Kaku, says it’s “inevitable” that another huge solar flare will happen within the next century or two at most. Kaku, along with fellow physicists, has worked to plead with Congress to develop a backup plan for America’s power grid. In the event of another flare, satellites, the electrical grid, and nuclear power plants could all be vulnerable. Kaku says the effects could be similar to numerous devastating hurricanes at once.
Dr. Kaku also noted that the asteroid Apophis could pose a slight threat to the planet when it flies by in 2029 and again in 2036.
However, in 2013, NASA stated that the chances that Apophis strikes the Earth are “less than one in a million.” It passed by once before in 2004, making a close approach that concerned scientists at the time. Now, they are taking small steps toward developing technology to counter similar asteroid threats. However, it looks like we would be ill-prepared in the event of an asteroid in 2019.
Will we face any of these natural disasters in our lifetime? Nobody can say for sure. Neither the best scientists nor the most renowned psychics or prophets can predict the future with absolute certainty. In the meantime, we are reminded how precious life on Earth really is, and that each day is a true blessing.
Together, we can work to protect the environment and create a more peaceful and loving society. As for buying up bunkers away from the coasts, we may just as well leave that luxury for the billionaire class. So much to worry about when you have vastly more cash than 99 percent of the population?
