When people are taught something from childhood, they often defend it without ever questioning it. Circumcision is one of those things.
Circumcision has roots in ancient systems of control going back to 2,500BC, and it was used by malevolent leaders to mark males in a way that resembles how some people mark cattle today.
The foreskin contains many sensitive nerve endings and contributes to sexual sensation. Nerves in the penis communicate sensory information through the nervous system to the brain, so removing tissue changes the body’s natural anatomy and sensory experience.
The procedure weakens men physically, mentally, and spiritually. It has absolutely nothing to do with the Divine or health benefits, there are none.
Circumcision is experienced as a traumatic event, especially because it is performed before one is old enough to understand or consent to it. The physical pain, loss of bodily autonomy, a crucial part of the male being as a whole, does have psychological effects, and in most cases causes them to shift energetically as well, which can take a lifetime to heal.
One of the most unusual situations which I’ve experienced involved inadvertently witnessing a circumcism performed in public…
USAF member stationed in a Middle Eastern country. A group of us decided to enjoy the local cuisine by dining in an open air restaurant. We were having a great time. Separated by a low wall… the top of which served as a planter filled with green foliage, we could see another group directly in front of us holding a celebration of their own which involved musicians and dancing. The musicians saw that we were also enjoying their music, motioned to us to get up and join the dancing. Many of us did just that. It was a wonderful mix of humanity… different cultures melding…just enjoying ourselves. A young boy came out dressed in new Western styled suit. All the focus was upon him as different people started pinning the paper notes of the local currency (money) all over his new suit. The music had continued to play. He, too, danced. Stopping only briefly to allow someone else to attach more money to his suit. I judged him to be somewhere between 7-10 yrs old.
The next thing I noticed was that the boy had disappeared. Not for long, though. He had changed from his Western styled suit into a masculine kaftan. An older man had also appeared, also dressed in a white kaftan, and seated himself in the chair which had been positioned front and center of all. What happened next was swift and fast. So swift and fast, in fact, that it did not initially register with me what had actually occurred. The man had suddenly grabbed the boy, positioning the boy between his separated knees, raised the boy’s tunic, and swiftly performed the circumcism in front of all using a blade with a handle.
The boy started crying. He was helped out of the public view.
Later, I learned that this ceremony was considered a young man’s introduction into manhood. Also that it was considered to be an embarassment for the parents if the boy cried.
Q. what is that useless piece of skin at the edge of a penis called?
A. A man.
Yes, the “cruelest cut” is an apt description. I pray that we all be made whole again someday. Wouldn’t that be something—to be restored to our original form as God made us!
