Affirmations (meaning a statement said with confidence about a perceived truth) have helped thousands of people make significant changes in their lives. But they don’t always work for everyone. Why can one person have great success using this tool while another see’s no results at all?

An affirmation can work as it has the ability to program your mind into believing the stated concept. This is because the mind doesn’t know the difference between what is real or fantasy. When you watch a movie and you start to laugh or cry your mind is empathizing with the characters on the screen ⇲

Being sloppy with our speech is not only harmful in its own right. It also perpetuates our harmful habits of mind. Careless speech leads to careless mind. But it goes both ways. Careless mind also leads to careless speech. This slogan is the mirror image of the previous one. It focuses on cleaning up the kind of “filth” in our mind than can easily come out in damaging words and actions.

Our minds naturally get attracted to thinking about what others may have as faults. This can become an addiction, especially for those who have a lot of pride. And when we discover these faults, we’re naturally interested in pondering them. ⇲

Ah, it’s all starting to make sense now.  I was wondering why everyone is always telling me that I’m a loner and that I like to fly solo, it’s because they picked up on the fact that I’m a genius.

Okay, maybe that’s not the case, but as it turns out, intelligent people usually are better off by themselves according to a recent study that was published in the British Journal of Psychology. ⇲

When I was a young boy I always enjoyed rainy days. Sure baseball was cancelled and I couldn’t ride my bike outside but I knew the next day there would be left over puddles on the way to school. Jumping in puddles was one of our favorite small pastimes and making splashes while trying not to get soaked was a fun goal of mine.

I had the luxury of living so close to my grade school that my brothers and neighbors walked to Juliet Low elementary. One of the games we designed was to get to the puddle first and with one step make the splash and try to soak the person to your right or left depending which way you leaned. ⇲
